Spirent Communications (News - Alert) announced that its proprietary 8100 Location Technology Solution features in the latest list of CTIA’s authorized equipment for LTE Assisted-GPS (A-GPS) Over-The-Air (OTA) Testing. The list was published on August 13th and names Spirent Communications’ platforms as the only solutions with CTIA (News - Alert) authorization for support in the new test requirement plan.
In a release, Rajat Agarwal, director of product management at Spirent Communications, said “Over-the-air testing of A-GPS is a high priority for LTE phones launched in North America, so timely enforcement of version 3.2.1 of the CTIA’s plan is critical. The industry expects Spirent to maintain its role of providing leading-edge LBS test solutions, and we have chosen to collaborate with OTA chamber vendors who are also industry leaders. This leadership is highlighted by the fact that solutions based on Spirent Communications’ platform are the only ones authorized by the CTIA to date for its LTE (News - Alert) A-GPS OTA test requirements.”
The earlier version of the CTIA targeted A-GPS in CDMA, WCDMA and GSM enabled devices. The latest test plan, CTIA Version 3.2.1, expands the earlier version to support other protocols for A-GPS in LTE networks, LPP and RRLP. Spirent Communications has joined forces with renowned OTA anechoic chamber vendors to provide extensive OTA test applications. The Spirent Communications’ platform has already garnered adequate interest with many global wireless device testing facilities investing in Spirent Communications to secure CTIA authorization.
Many OTA testing labs are already using Spirent Communications’ CDMA, GSM, WCDMA A-GPS OTA test solutions and can seamlessly upgrade their existing infrastructure to include the LTA A-GPS OTA solutions, which is expected to be available commercially in the market very soon.
Spirent Communications Plc is engaged in the development of advanced solutions and platforms used in test data centers, high speed Ethernet networks and services, cloud computing environments, network security, cloud computing networks and global navigation satellite systems. The platforms developed by Spirent Communications are widely used in the industry to test the performance of emerging technologies in the market in addition to providing extensive solutions for service management towards enhancing troubleshooting capabilities.
